(MOBILE, Ala.) The Finishing Touch by Lumina is a personal trimmer that claims to instantly remove hair safely and gently. In this week's Deal or Dud, Local 15's Kelly Foster put it to the test.
To find out if this As Seen on TV Product really works, we enlisted the help of Nurse Practitioner Mindi Welford at the Martin Center, and she had a willing test subject.
"Pam has the white peach fuzz that almost all of us have on their face, and most women do shave it, and that's the type of hair that doesn't respond to laser hair removal, so women can either wax that or shave it," says Welford. So, she put Pam under the light. "We basically shaved her side burn areas and the eyebrows to clean that area up," says Welford.
The product also claims to have an eyebrow attachment that promises to trim your eyebrows instantly and pain-free. "That's another option if women did not want to wax," says Welford.
Mindi's next volunteer was Jim. She used the Lumina on his forearm. "We wanted to see the contrast between the darker hair and the lighter skin, the hair came right off and there wasn't any stubble left. The skin was smooth and he said it didn't pinch him when we did it," says Welford.
She deems the Finishing Touch by Lumina a Deal.
Mindi also says patients can use this product before undergoing laser hair removal. She says patients are told to shave their face before having the laser done, and this would be another option instead of a razor.
