Deal or Dud~E Z Moves

Moving can be a real struggle.  No matter how hard you try you need more than one guy.  The As Seen on TV furniture mover promises that it's power bar lifter can you 10 times your natural strength to help you lift heavy pieces of furniture.  It comes with furniture slides that can be used on hard surfaces and carpet.

The do-it yourself moving system works like this, just lift, place and slide.  We enlisted the help of movers from Paulk's Moving and Storage to put the product to the test. First up was a solid wood conference table.  "The table is made out of reclaimed barn. They were roof trusses and it weighs about 300-350 pounds. It's definitely designed to sit there and not be moved, says Les White, Operations Manager at Paulk Moving & Storage. 

So, his movers used the power bar, gently lifting the table.  They placed sliders underneath it and moved it across the room in seconds.  "It went outstanding, one person could've moved it, and we did move it with one person," says White.

Next up, a piano.  This one was on wheels.  Not many folks want to roll a piano across the room because for one it's heavy, and it's a definite no no if you have wood floors.  "On wood floors you have to be careful and make sure floors are clean because any grit will cause a scratch," says White.

Again, the Paulk movers lifted, placed the slides under it...and gave it push, it did move it, but not perfectly.  "It worked pretty well, I think wheels on the piano made it harder than it normally would've been but it did work pretty well.  If it's on wheels and you push a heavy item it may roll completely off the slides," says White.

But for day to day furniture moving, when your home alone, only our expert could determine if it really does the trick...
