(GULF SHORES, Ala.) - LOCAL 15 News is beginning a summer project that will highlight communities along the Gulf Coast. It's called Coastal Community Spotlight and it starts this week in Gulf Shores.
LOCAL 15's Darwin Singleton begins his series of stories along the sandy shores of Baldwin County. The Gulf Shores area, normally a bustling tourist city, was hit hard last year by the BP oil spill. This summer, the tourists have returned.
This week, Darwin will take you inside the Gulf Shores Museum, at 244 West 19th Avenue, where you'll see how our coastal communities have evolved over the years. He'll also look behind the scenes at the iconic Souvenir City, which helps support the economy.
Also on the plate for Thursday's series of stories: an inside look at Lucy Buffet's restaurant, Lulu's. There you'll see how you can actually track your fish from the gulf to your plate!
Finally, Darwin will take you on a tour of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo -- which is in the process of getting much bigger, and much better!
Be sure to tune in every Thursday, beginning on LOCAL 15 Today and ending on LOCAL 15 Nonstop News at 10 to learn fun and unique things about the cities that make up our home along the coast.
