(MOBILE, Ala.) The Mister Steamy Dryer Ball claims it can give you soft, wrinkle free clothes straight out of the dryer. But is it really better than dryer sheets or using an iron? LOCAL 15 puts it to the test.
Brittany Stoltz will be the first to tell you she hates to iron her clothes. In fact, she says she'd rather pay to get her clothes cleaned than slave over a hot iron. Brittany's work attire is a white polo shirt that must be tucked in at all times. "they're not wrinkle free so you have to iron them," she said. "I wore this one time to work and it wrinkles so easily."
For under $20, Mister Steamy promises to save you money by steaming away the wrinkles in your dryer. So, we decided to buy it and try it. We asked Brittany to gather up a bunch of wrinkled shirts. The directions say fill the plastic ball up with water, put it in the dryer with your clothes and run on high heat for a half hour. Brittany was disappointed with the results, not promising to do what it says. "It looks just as wrinkled as before, maybe even a lot worse," she said.
Brittany says she couldn't even wear this shirt to work. "Yeah, I would definitely have to iron this before going to work," she said. But according to it's makers, Mister Steamy turns your dryer into the wrinkle releasing machine. Brittany disagrees, saying "No, it doesn't work any better, not at all. I'd have to iron it if I used it."
