(MOBILE, Ala.) - It's supposed to help you chop your stress away and make dinner easier. But does the slap chop really measure up to its claims? We put it to the test.
"I'm always looking to try new products," says Cecil Morris, the head chef for the Salvation Army in Mobile. As head chef, Morris cooks as many as 400 meals a day. He says, "we're always looking for a faster way to increase our production."
So, to see if the slap chop really works...we first put apples to the test.
It wasn't long before we had problems. "Oh it got stuck," Morris said. "It got stuck on the apples."
He wasn't impressed. "If it had a money back guarantee, I'd be getting my money back," Morris said.
According to the commercial, the Slap Chop is supposed to make mincing garlic easy. But when we tried the garlic, it got stuck to the blades. "I think this is kind of dangerous having to take this out against the blade," Morris said. "I wouldn't recommend this to anybody. Actually, you know who you recommend it too? Somebody you don't like."
After nearly 15 minutes of trying several different kinds of fruits and vegetables, Morris decided the product actually makes cooking harder, not easier.
If you want to try the Slap Chop for yourself, it's available
