(Mobile, Ala) - August 4 -
It's what's on the inside the counts, right? Not so with digital TV.
What's on the outside determines the level of your viewing experience.
The picture you get in this new digital age will impress you.
"Considerably different," says NBC 15's Chief Engineer Tim Reid. "A much cleaner picture."
But to take full advantage of what's out there, it's true, what's on the outside really does count.
"These new set top boxes or converter boxes are based on having an antenna at the rooftop level," says Reid. "It's the difference in getting the signal and not getting the signal. You may be able to pick up some of the locals with rabbit ears because they may be closer to where you live, but most of the stations you're not going to be able to pick up with rabbit ears With the outside antenna, you'll be surprised at how many you can pick up."
Tim says with a good antenna, you should get 21 channels now for free, and that number will grow as the technology improves.
Outside antennas run anywhere from $30 to $200.
