It's sold at Radio Shack for just under $200, but go in the store, and you'll see demand often exceeds the supply.
That's not a problem.
"I wouldn't call it vital, I'd call it essential because it's not if, it's when a storm will hit our area," says John Hatten of Radio Shack.
When that storm hits, this will keep you informed in this new digital age.
"With the change in technology, this 7-inch TV will give the consumer peace of mind that when a storm does hit us either this summer or summer of 2009, that they're gonna be ready, they're gonna be prepared, and they'll have the latest technology that's going to be out there to meet the demand," says Hatten.
Unlike your typical hurricane TV, this 7-inch TV has a digital tuner, so it will work when we make the jump to DTV.
John admits it's been hard keeping them in stock, but even that's not a problem.
"Regardless of if it's the 7-inch tv or if it's a digital converter box, we have what's called our direct to you program," says Hatten. "A customer comes into the store, we take their information, they pay for the TV or the digital converter box and we ship it to their home free of charge. That way, if we're out of stock temporarily in the stores, there's enough stock in our warehouse to where we can ship it to them."
