etting up-to-date information during a hurricane. We told you last month those battery operated TVs or so called hurricane TVs have analog tuners.
That means they won't work this time next year.
Here's the solution. Radio Shack has a 7-inch portable TV with a digital tuner.
"it's been a very popular item," says John Hatten of Radio Shack. "Radio Shack started selling this about October or November of last year and they were really hard to keep.
I wouldn't call it vital. i'd call it essential because it's not if, it's when a storm will hit our area."There are two ways to charge this particular TV - from your outlets at home, or if the power is still out, you can charge it through a power port in your car. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to recharge and gives you or your kids about four hours of viewing time.
"If you have children with gaming systems, it does have an audio/video input, so if you're not watching TV, you can always use it to play games with the kids to keep them occupied," says Hatten.
This digital TV is a little more expensive than your typical battery operated TV.
Radio Shack sells this unit for just under $200.
