After a decent Wednesday, the forecast for Thursday looks VERY wet. A storm system moving across Texas Wednesday afternoon will approach the region overnight into Thursday morning. This will bring a large area of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall to the Gulf Coast for a period between midnight and noon Thursday. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible Thursday morning, but no severe weather is expected.
Friday and the weekend look mostly dry. A slight chance of showers may accompany a cold front that will pass through the area Friday afternoon. Otherwise, it will be dry through Joe Cain Day on Sunday. All Mardi Gras parades look rain-free through the weekend. By next week, an active weather pattern will return with showers and storms again breaking out across the area. A cold front will move into the region and stall across the area through Tuesday evening. Depending on the position and location of the front, periods of locally heavy rainfall will be possible. Monday, Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Timing of the rain each day is still in question, if you have plans to attend any of the parades next week, expect wet weather for the entire period from Monday into Tuesday evening.
Drier and cooler weather will return to the area from Valentine's Day through the end of next week.
