A strong cold front has stalled across the area. West of the front, temperatures have fallen into the 40s and 50s. Along it...into the 60s, and east of it highs reached well into the 70s on Monday. The front will not move much for the next 24 to 36 hours. The best chances for rain tonight will be behind the front across southeast Mississippi, but the entire area could see a rogue shower overnight.
As more upper level energy moves across the area Tuesday, the showers will become more numerous. Temperatures again on Tuesday will be highly dependent on where you live. Baldwin County and points east into Florida will see temps well into the 60s and 70s, while behind the front from Mobile County and points west, temperatures will be MUCH cooler. Expect highs in the low to mid 60s in Mobile, but places like Lucedale MS or Chatom AL will barely get out of the low 50s. Northwest Florida and far southern Baldwin County will be well into the 70s again. Any slight repositioning of the front will make a HUGE difference in how warm or cool Tuesday is for you.
Showers will continue into Tuesday night and Wednesday, but by Wednesday afternoon, the front will begin marching eastward and this will bring cooler air to the entire region. Highs Wednesday will be early in the day, with temps around 60, then falling into the 50s as the day progresses areawide. Areas northwest of I-65 will stay in the 50s all day. Computer model forecasts are suggesting another wave of low pressure bringing a final round of rain to the area late Wednesday into Thursday. Rain will come to an end by Thursday evening with chilly conditions expected for the rest of the week. Highs Thursday will not get out of the low 50s with 30s expected Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night. We'll see sunshine return Friday, with highs slowly creeping back toward 60 this weekend.
