After several unseasonably warm days, changes are coming. A strong system will move into the region later tonight and Wednesday, bringing the possibility of severe weather to the Gulf Coast. At this time, the threat will be highest from early morning Wednesday through Wednesday afternoon, with Mississippi seeing the storms first, then northwest Florida being the last areas to be affected. Strong wind gusts and isolated tornadoes will be possible, with the greatest tornado threat coming from isolated supercell storms that may develop ahead of the main squall line over the Gulf and track toward the coast.
By late afternoon Wednesday, the storms will exit the area. Skies will slowly clear and cooler weather will filter in behind the front. Temperatures will their warmest in the morning, with readings falling slowly during the afternoon into the 50s and lower 60s. Sunshine returns for Thursday, Friday and the weekend, as high pressure moves in. Highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s can be expected through Sunday morning, with a slow warm-up by early next week.
