Rain is back in the forecast. After a brief period of dry weather, another storm system promises to soak the Gulf Coast through this weekend. Tonight and Thursday will see an increase in clouds, but it will remain dry. Temperatures tonight will not be as cool, into the 40s, with warmer weather for Thursday afternoon under cloudy skies. Rain chances will increase late Thursday, mainly after dark west of I-65 across southeast Mississippi as thunderstorms move in from the west. A cold front will settle across the area Friday and Saturday bringing high chances for rain. The period from Thursday night to Saturday morning looks very wet, with upwards of 3 inches of rain possible in some isolated areas. Most will see between 1-2 inches.

The front will push offshore briefly on Saturday bringing an end to the rainfall for Saturday afternoon, thorough Sunday morning. Another wave of low pressure will develop on the front and track toward the coast. This will send the front back to the north as a warm front bringing more rain to the area late Sunday through Monday. Some of the rain will be heavy at times, adding another 1-2" to what already has been received. The front will finally move out of the area late Monday into early Tuesday, bringing dry weather back to the Gulf Coast. Temperatures will be around 70 through the weekend, with 60s in the forecast behind the front by Tuesday and Wednesday.
