Skies overnight will be mostly cloudy with showers becoming likely as another wave of low pressure tracks through the region. The highest chances for rain for the entire area will be tonight, then as the storm moves east of the region on Thursday, the best chances will translate toward areas east of I-65. Temps tonight will be chilly, with upper 30s and lower 40s expected. Highs will barely reach 50 in most areas on Thursday.

Colder weather is expected Thursday night as skies try to clear with lower to mid 30s expected. Skies will remain mostly cloudy into Friday with highs in the mid 50s. This weekend looks dry for the most part, with one exception. A storm system will develop over the Gulf and track toward the region Saturday afternoon and night. This will bring another round of light rain to the area beginning late Saturday and ending early Sunday.

A slow warm-up will occur next week with 60s back in the forecast by Tuesday and Wednesday, ahead of the next storm system what will bring more rain to the area by Thursday. There are indications we will see a significant cool down in about a week and a half based on the latest trends with our computer forecast models. Most of the long-range models are indicating a pattern change that could bring more cold air from Canada into the eastern U.S. toward the middle of January. It is still a little early to speculate on this, but just keep in mind....the coldest air of the season may try to make its way into the region in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
