High Rain Chances Through The Weekend

Get ready to see a lot of rain. A cold front will move into the area through Friday night bringing high chances for showers and storms. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible, as storms move over the same areas repeatedly. By Sunday, we could see between 3-5" south and east of I-65 with areas north of I-65 seeing between .5" to 1.5". Area rivers are already high due to recent heavy rains, and more rain will not help the situation. Have a plan of action in case you live in a flood prone area.

The only period of dry weather I see this weekend will be from Saturday afternoon through most of Sunday. By Sunday night, another wave of low pressure will track along the front bringing another round of rain to the region by Sunday night. Locally heavy rainfall can be expected once again, particularly east of I-65 through Monday morning.  It appears the front will finally clear the area by Monday afternoon, bringing dry weather back to the Gulf Coast for the middle of next week.

Temperatures through the weekend will be in the 60s north of the front and 70s south of the front, so depending on where you live, you'll see either or based on where the front stalls. Highs in the 60s will be common next week, once the rain leaves, beginning Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will be warm, into the 50s and 60s until the front moves away next week. As drier air filters in, temperatures at night will fall back into the 30s and 40s by Wednesday morning.
