FORECAST OVERVIEW:
A few showers will continue tonight into early Thursday as an area of low pressure moves just offshore into the open Gulf. A cold front to our north will slowly dissipate as skies remain cloudy overnight. Partly to mostly cloudy skies can be expected through this weekend. Rain chances return next week ahead of a strong cold front that will bring an abrupt end to the warm weather of late.
TONIGHT - FRIDAY:
Skies will remain cloudy overnight as low pressure off the Louisiana coast and a cold front to our north keep showers around the area through early Thursday morning. Temperatures will drop into the 50s to around 60. Shower chances will continue into early Thursday morning, then taper off through the day. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 70s again Thursday and Friday.
THIS WEEKEND:
Rain chances will be few and far between as we will be in between storm systems. A few showers will be possible by late Sunday as humidity levels begin to crank up ahead of the next cold front. Otherwise, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy through the period. Temperatures will reach well into the 70s this weekend during the day and remain around 60 at night.
MONDAY:
Computer forecast models have sped up the timing of the next cold front. Some bring the front in early Monday, others a little later. And depending on when this happens will determine exactly how warm it gets on Monday. A slower front will mean warmer temperatures during the day, with an earlier frontal passage leading to high temperatures being reached early in the day. Either way, as the front moves through, showers and storms will be possible with the front. Winds will shift out of the north and northwest bringing the cooler weather in by Monday night. Temperatures will fall into the 30s by Tuesday morning.
TUESDAY - WEDNESDAY:
Tuesday will be mostly clear to partly cloudy and much cooler with highs in the 50s and 60s. A stiff north wind will help it feel a bit a cooler. Clouds will rapidly increase late in the day as another storm system takes shape off the Texas coast. This will bring a chance of rain back to the forecast Wednesday into Thursday. Time timing on this next batch of rain may need to be tweaked some in the coming days.
