An upper level ridge of high pressure parked across the South and Southeast to end June and for the start of July. Record breaking heat dominated areas from the Midwest & Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley & East Coast.

Macon tied the all-time record reaching 108...wow!
Atlanta beat the all-time high reaching 106 degrees....whoa!
