Record Heat....

An upper level ridge of high pressure parked across the South and Southeast to end June and for the start of July.  Record breaking heat dominated areas from the Midwest & Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley & East Coast. 

Check out some of the record highs from Saturday, June 30th:

105 for Huntsville, AL
104 for Tuscaloosa, AL
104 for Tupelo, MS
103 for Little Rock, AR
102 for Memphis, TN

*There were even all-time records set in Georgia on Saturday:

Macon tied the all-time record reaching 108...wow!
Atlanta beat the all-time high reaching 106 degrees....whoa!

108 for Macon, GA
108 for Athens, GA
105 for Huntsville, AL
104 for Anniston, AL
104 for Birmingham, AL

*An all-time Record High was also set in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC on Sunday reaching 107 degrees...HOT!


So, you get the idea...the South has been baking so far this summer!  ...and more above average heat is in the forecast.
