The first local parade of the 2013 Mardi Gras season is set to roll tomorrow on Dauphin Island. The streets should quickly fill around lunchtime with thousands of revelers anxious to catch moon pies and beads. The Krewe de la Dauphine is set to roll at 1pm.
The weather is going to be unseasonably warm and the air mass will be super sticky. Around noon, temps will be hovering in the mid 70s, but by the time the last float rolls by, temps will be hovering around 80 degrees. Dress as light as possible, and prepare on a few traffic delays.
Typically this time of year, highs should average around 60, so we'll be about 15 to 20 degrees warmer depending upon where you live. A few isolated showers are possible by the end of the weekend, with heavier rain coverage early next week.
Next Saturday, the Island Mystics will parade at 1pm on Dauphin Island.
