Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are possible this afternoon with the highest risk for threatening storms generally east of I-65. Atmospheric conditions are conducive for deadly lightning and torrential downpours along with damaging winds with stronger storms. We're not ruling out a few becoming briefly severe. However, widespread, organized, severe storm coverage is not expected.
An upper low over NE Florida gradually moving westward is helping to kick off these storms. Also increasing moisture levels during the day will only add to the instability. More thunderstorms are expected as we progress through the week. The bulk of the storm coverage today will be across our eastern zones.
Stay tuned into the forecast, Local 15 will be watching your neighborhood very closely. If you hear thunder you are in striking distance, so stay indoors until the storm has passed.
