Hurricane Sandy is an extremely rare and dangerous storm, churning in the Atlantic. It's going to bring fierce winds, torrential downpours, flooding and even snow. It's already made it's left turn as projected and is barreling toward New Jersey and gaining strength. This storm could impact up to 60 million people and result in billions of dollars in damage. It's expected to make landfall near Atlantic City this evening.
It's set to combine with two other weather systems to create an epic superstorm. The projected track has New York City and Long Island in a dangerous slot for major storm surge especially with highs tide and a full moon around landfall. It looks to become a hurricane wrapped in a winter storm.
Sandy's impacts are already being felt ahead of the storm and will reach hundreds of miles from the center of landfall due to the storm's size.
