The Rip Current risk is HIGH for area beaches...and the RED Flags are flying.  There have already been several rescues today (June 7th) due to the dangerous surf and the rip currents.  Turbulent water conditions are occurring due to 3-5ft long period swells from a weak disturbance in the eastern Gulf.  These conditions may continue into Friday, June 8th...so, it's best to check the beach report before heading out.

Remember, if you're caught in a rip current:

-Stay Calm
-Start Swimming Parallel to the Shoreline (eventually, you should swim out of it).
**Never try to swim directly against the current....it can exhaust even a strong swimmer.
**Never swim alone.
