MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The Conde Cavaliers will take to the streets of downtown Mobile tonight.

The first parade of the 2013 Mardi Gras season in Mobile kicks off at 6:30 p.m. You will want to get down there early. Police will close off the streets around 6 p.m.

But even before the Conde's kicked of the downtown parading season, they were marching through senior centers and even a school for the challenged. When they say Mardi Gras is for everyone, they mean it.

Members of the krewe, as well as the Mary G. Montgomery High Band, paraded around the athletic field at Augusta Evans School, as children screamed with delight.

"They can't come to the parade, they're in wheel chairs and everything," said one masked reveler. "So we bring the parade to them!"

Members of the school's own Mardi Gras court even joined the procession. But when it was over, there was more to come.

The whole procession boarded buses and headed to the Little Sisters of the Poor Residence for senior citizens. Minutes later, the whole thing happened again.

Residents stood in their doorways and lined the halls, where Cavaliers gently adorned them with colorful beads. Toes tapped to the brass band and sisters clad in white scurried excitedly through the halls encouraging participation. Other stops included Cathedral Place and Creighton Towers.

Later, members of the Murphy High School Band joined the Conde's at the parade lineup at the Mobile Civic Center. This marked the first appearance for the band since their bandroom and much of their campus was wrecked by a Christmas day tornado.
