Attention Mobile Chamber of Commerce - Mobile has many opportunities for financial growth that are available inside of the current city limits. The city has lots of empty houses and businesses that should be filled before any expansion to other parts of Mobile county. The city is over-extending itself by annexing areas and should be concentrating on existing infrastructure and downtown business opportunities. Mobile has a great need for a positive image in the US and the city leadership has an obligation to its current residents to improve and enhance the area so that people will consider moving to Mobile. Right now, the perception and belief is that the total amount of criminal activity is extraordinarily high and getting higher within the city of Mobile, and people tend to move away rather than make Mobile their home. The people that both currently live in Mobile, and those that have moved away place all of the blame on the mayor and the city council's leadership abilities. Crime rates are extremely high, the city streets and neighborhoods are in poor shape, the schools are considered low-end, the police force is seen as in-adequate for the existing city area, and the tourist attractions are seen as non-exciting . The Chamber of Commerce seems to have an obligation to bring money and business into the existing city of Mobile, before looking to expand outward into the county. The city leaders have money that needs to be spent on making Mobile the best small city in Alabama, but they are spending the money on hidden projects and agendas that do not benefit the city as a whole. There is more to Mobile than the government offices downtown, the public housing projects, and the downtown metro area. It is not a good thing to donate money towards annexation and expansion, if the city cannot maintain and promote what they already have to the public in a positive way. I've been here in this area for over 20 years and the reputation of Mobile is not very good.JMO

Seasonal=Temporary. When the season is over, these people will be jobless again. Yes, they do have jobs and some money. However, many will be catching up on bills and living expenses and not spending money on the things that stores hope that they will. People want permanent, steady employment - with benefits. The temporary jobs do not have any benefits. The economy will actually improve when people can go back to work on a permanent basis vs a temporary basis. Congrats to the people getting these temporary/seasonal jobs - you will be out of work again. It is time that local business owners realize that people prefer full-time employment over being a temp. What I don't understand is why launch a massive movement to ban tasers. It wasn't a taser that caused the death of this person,it was a car.Does that mean we need to pass a petition to ban cars used in law enforcement? That makes as much sense as banning something that didn't even have anything to do with the cause of death.Wouldn't it be better to ban parents that are cool with their teenager roaming the streets all weekend long with absolutely no idea where they are or if they do or don't have a handgun in their posession? The kid was around a construction site early in the morning and was in posession of a firearm, doesn't that indicate he was up to no good?Don't get me wrong,I do feel sympathy for the family for their loss, but let's be real. The kid needed parental control and certainly didn't need to be allowed to run the streets all weekend without any parent even asking where he was going.Look into how and where he got his gun and then charge them with furnishing a minor with a firearm.

The Golden Egg has Silver Bullets! Reporter James Gordon says the perp has an extensive criminal history...well ya think? Another one of DA John Tyson's and a Circuit Court Judge's catch and release thugs. In the next year he will be out and robbing businesses and folks again.

Now here is a "Man's man"! He BITES his girlfriend! Another Mike Tyson wannabe that probably has rabies. I say put him in the cage with 'Mr Coyote' that Mikey Rush reported on and see who's bite is worse than their bark.

Subdude, I don't think you understood what I was trying to get across. The BOX can be empty, it's a decoy to get the perp to break into the home. Any old flat screen or plasma TV box will suffice. Focus on the BOX Subdude! It's like deer hunting, you plant the food (box) and THEY (perps) WILL COME! They see the BOX and think you just bought yourself a nice TV and they will break into your home and get it. That's when you jump up from your Lazy Boy recliner with guns a blazing! It's fairly simple dude.

I can see it now...this guy's mother is probably going to church to pray for her son's release from jail. I wonder if she's watching her back while walking to her car in the church parking lot. I wonder if he's telling his mother not to go to church because it can be dangerous.

As long as I'm in Mobile, I won't buy one of the big plasma or HDTVs for this very reason. I can stow other stuff away to where the alarm will deter people from sticking around and doing much looking, but those TVs are too easy and costly to just carry out of the house. I'll prefer a big heavy widescreen TV set.

Apparently that child's welfare was endangered when he was born. We'll be hearing about him/her on the news in a decade or so.
